Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will review the date of payment under the farm retirement scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in order to issue arrears in view of the fact that application was made on 5 June 1996 but despite numerous telephone calls and letters, this person received no communication from his Department until October 1996 when a query issued to him from the Department and was dealt with by his solicitors within three weeks of receiving same. I am, therefore, making arrangements to have the commencement date of pensions adjusted to take account of the unavoidable delays in this and similar cases.
