Dáil Éireann - Volume 477 - 10 April, 1997 Written Answers. - Hospital Projects. Mr. N. Treacy Mr. N. Treacy 55. Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Health if he will sanction a project (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which this will be done; the amount allocated in this regard in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9498/97] Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East) Michael Noonan Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): Following discussions with my Department regarding the problem of overcrowding at University College Hospital, Galway, the Western Health Board has proposed a range of measures aimed at resolving the difficulties. I understand that the possibility of utilising the Bons Secours Hospital, Tuam, is one of the options being kept under review by the board, having regard to the service issues involved and the availability of resources. However, in proposing additional “step-down” beds, the board is giving priority to the provision of such beds in its own hospital at Merlin Park. Dáil Éireann 477 Written Answers. Hospital Projects.
