79. Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Health when work will commence on the new health centre for Ballinaglera, County Leitrim. [8864/97]

Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the provision of health centres is a matter for the health boards in the first instance.

Funding for this health centre was approved by my Department in 1995. I have been informed by the North-Western Health Board that some difficulties were experienced in connection with this project during 1996, but that these have now been resolved. Tenders are at present being examined and the health board is confident of having a contractor on site in May of this year.
