67. Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the estimated cost of staff in his ministerial offices, such as programme managers, advisers, support staff and other such related costs for 1997; and the comparative figures for 1993 and 1987. [9329/97]

Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the total number of staff in his ministerial offices and his Ministers' of State offices; if he will give a breakdown of the status of all staff, whether temporary civil servants, permanent or non-established; if he will give comparison figures for the years 1988, 1993, 1995 and 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The figures given above for Civil Service posts have been averaged over the period of each year in order to reflect slight variations which have occurred.

* It should be noted that from 1994, the Department has been supporting 2 Ministers of State as opposed to one prior to that and this is reflected in the figures.

† In these cases it should be noted that one of the posts is that of Minister's driver i.e. 2 people job sharing.
