Cecilia Keaveney asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs if there are elements of positive discrimination exercised by his Department towards particular areas in view of the fact that areas of rural Ireland contribute substantially to our current Objective One status; the form that any such positive discrimination takes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Spring): I presume that the question refers to the application of the Structural Funds under the Community Support Framework.

There are no Operational Programmes under the CSF administered by my Department. The question therefore does not arise in relation to it.
