Criminal Justice (Bail) Bill, 1997: First Stage.

Mr. O'Donoghue: I move:

That leave be given to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to provide for the legislative enactment of measures to provide for the implementation of the Sixteenth Amendment of the Constitution and to make statutory provision for the regulation of the terms of bail of persons charged with serious criminal offences and to provide for the duties and responsibilities of bailspersons and to provide for related matters.

An Ceann Comhairle: Is the Bill opposed?

Mr. Quinn: No.

An Ceann Comhairle: Since this is a Private Members' Bill the Second Stage must, under Standing Orders, be taken during Private Members' time.
