140. Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications whether his Department has a safety statement and a designated safety officer. [7216/97]

Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Dukes): In relation to my Department's various offices in Dublin, there is a designated safety officer and a separate safety statement for each location.

There is also a designated safety officer attached to Met. Éireann together with individual safety statements for each of its larger offices. Safety statements for some of its smaller offices are in the process of being drafted at the moment.
