138. Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will allow a person (details supplied) to have a private blood test carried out on three animals. [7322/97]

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates): The herd of the person in question is scheduled for an annual herd test in the first phase of testing to be completed by 11 May 1997, and it is a matter now for this person to arrange for a private practitioner to undertake the test. In these circumstances permission for a private test of a limited number of animals cannot be granted.
