123. Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to resolve the difficulties caused to youth organisations by the delay in issuing payments by her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5556/97]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): I am conscious of the difficulties being experienced by youth organisations due to the delay in the issue of the first instalment of the youth service grant. This delay is regretted.

However, I am confident that it will be possible to proceed with the process of payment in the coming week.
