Written Answers. - Victim Support Services.

45. Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Justice if she has satisfied herself with the level of resources being allocated by the Government to the Victim Support Organisation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5429/97]

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen): While there will always be requests for more resources for services of all kinds, I am happy that I have added [1231] significantly to the level of resources which I have allocated to the Irish Association of Victim Support since taking office as Minister for Justice. My commitment to the work of the association is reflected directly in the consistent increases in funding which I have made from £130,000 in 1995 to £180,000 in 1996 and to £280,000 allocated for 1997.
