101. Mr. Briscoe asked the Minister for Health if he will reconsider the decision to refuse a medical card to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 in view of the particular seriousness of the illness suffered, and the age of the person concerned. [4897/97]

Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): The determination of eligibility for medical cards is a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board. I have, accordingly, referred the Deputy's question to the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board for investigation and have requested him to reply directly to the Deputy.
