103. Mr. McGahon asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to amend the law in view of recent comments by a District Court Judge (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4565/97]

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen): I have noted the judge's comments and, if following consideration of the matter I am of the opinion that a change in the law would be warranted, a suitable amendment could be introduced in the Children Bill, 1996, now before this House.
