106. Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a pier (details supplied) in County Limerick. [4402/97]

Minister of State at the Department of Finance (Mr. Coveney): The pier in question is not the responsibility of the Office of Public Works. As it is located between Tarbert and Foynes it would appear to be in the area of responsibility of Limerick [193] Harbour Commissioners who are responsible for the management and administration of the Port and Harbour of Limerick, including the estuary of the River Shannon, under the powers conferred on them by statute.
