Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice if she will give a breakdown of the amount which has been paid to her Department by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry for subsistence, overtime and meals for gardaí involved in the BSE operation on the Border from 25 March to 16 September 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen): In accordance with standard accounting arrangements these costs were met from the Garda Síochána Vote.

I have asked the Garda authorities to provide details of the Garda expenditure involved for the period referred to and I will convey the information to the Deputy as soon as it comes to hand.
