Minister for Defence (Mr. Barrett): This year's voluntary early retirement scheme will be launched on 12 February and, as was the case last year, a comprehensive booklet giving full details of the scheme will again be available. It is proposed to offer voluntary early retirement to 750 personnel. This figure includes 110 personnel who are being granted voluntary early retirement in 1997 having commenced four months' pre-retirement support leave in 1996.
