129. Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has to establish additional regional technical colleges or institutes of education; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1908/97]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): In July 1995 the Government approved the establishment of two new third level colleges, Tipperary Rural and Business Development Institute and Dún Laoghaire Regional Technical College. I have also recently announced my decision and that of the Government to proceed with the provision of a new regional technical college at Blanchardstown as recommended by the Steering Committee on the Future Development of Higher Education.
