Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. Yates): The Deputy will be aware that it is my Department's policy, when a case of BSE is confirmed in an animal, to slaughter the herd in which the animal is located as well as its birth cohorts and progeny. In this case, the birth cohorts of a BSE positive animal are located in the herd of which details have been supplied and the Department is making arrangements to [1239] slaughter these animals. It is not proposed to slaughter any other animals in that herd.
