Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if members of the Garda special detective unit monitored anti-drug public meetings (details supplied) in Dublin 7; if so, the purpose of such surveillance; and if the plain clothes gardaí in cars outside these meetings were from Garda drug units. Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen): I am informed by the Garda authorities that the disclosure of the information sought by the Deputy concerning operational matters would be contrary to established practice. In the circumstances, I do not propose to make any further comment.
