160. Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Environment whether he gave two assurances (details supplied) in respect of a scheme in County Mayo. [20410/96]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): I refer to my reply to the Adjournment debate on 22 October 1996 and my reply to Questions Nos. 142 and 143 on 30 October 1996.

Subject to modification, I confirmed a compulsory purchase order in respect of the treatment works site for the Westport sewerage scheme on 30 October 1996. Once the land acquisition issues are finalised, it is proposed to submit a further application for Cohesion Fund assistance for stage two of the scheme, comprising of the completion of outstanding planning matters and the construction of the main scheme.
