Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East) Michael Noonan
Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): The provision of health services in Gort is a matter for the Western Health Board in the first instance. The board has informed me that it is satisfied with the level of community care facilities which are currently being provided in Gort. However, the board plans in 1997, to further develop the mental health service in Gort by providing a day care centre and separate group home for persons with mental illness. Capital funding for the proposed project in 1997 will be considered in the light of the funding available next year for the development of mental health services throughout the country and competing priorities.
