30. Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Marine the reason for the continuing delay in the issuing [1466] of a boat licence to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when this licence will issue. [16404/96]

Minister for the Marine (Mr. Barrett): The application in question, with a number of other applications under the scheme for the registration of previously unregistered fishing vessels, is being assessed by the Department from all relevant perspectives. The Department wrote to the person to whom the Deputy refers in September 1994 seeking certain undertakings which were required to progress the application. The applicant indicated at the time that on fulfilment of these conditions he would contact the Department again. On receipt of these undertakings, the matter will be progressed as quickly as possible.
