188. Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will provide a greenfield site for the development of a new college to facilitate the amalgamation of St. Patrick's vocational school and St. Tiernach's secondary school, County Monaghan. [19267/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): St. Patrick's vocational school and St. Tiernach's secondary school amalgamated in 1993 to form Largy College.

In order to establish the best way to develop the school, my Department authorized the vocational education committee to undertake a feasibility study whch was carried out by a team of consultants. Further to this, the vocational education committee is to provide the Department with additional information.

When all the information is available and has been considered, my Department will notify the vocational education committee of its decision in relation to the development of Largy College.
