213. Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education whether she will sanction a grant for the building of a physical education hall at Annabla national school, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18377/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): Due to financial constraints, I am not in a position to provide grant-aid towards the cost of a general purposes room at Annabala national school, County Kerry.

While I am anxious to extend the provision of general purposes facilities in primary schools, the pace at which this can be achieved will be dictated by the financial resources available and the priority must remain the provision of essential classroom accommodation.
