Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the ongoing discussions at EU level regarding the appropriate population level and other measures at which sites for landfill dumping should be subject to an environmental impact assessment; the current status of the proposal that 35 persons per square kilometre would be the lower cut off point; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
