Written Answers. - Controls on Bituminous Fuels.

49. Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to extend the ban on the sale, marketing and distribution of bituminous coal to additional urban areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17903/96]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): Monitoring results continue to demonstrate satisfactory air quality relative to the statutory standards for smoke and sulphur dioxide. I have no immediate proposal, therefore, to extend controls on bituminous fuels to [1818] urban areas other than Dublin and Cork.
