Dáil Éireann - Volume 466 - 11 June, 1996 Written Answers. - Preservation of Historic Wall. Mr. Lawlor Mr. Lawlor 68. Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the action, if any, he has taken to preserve the remains of a section of the wall of the original Pale uncovered in the Tallaght area of Dublin and potentially threatened by adjacent road proposals. [12112/96] Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Mr. M. Higgins) Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Mr. M. Higgins) 1580 [1580] Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Mr. M. Higgins): As part of the normal consultation process for road improvement schemes of this nature, the National Monuments and Historic Properties Service of my Department are already liaising with the road authority for the proposed Tallaght bypass. As detailed planning and design of the project, which is a matter for South Dublin County Council and the National Roads Authority, is at the initial stage only, it is too early to assess the impact of this development, if any, on the remains of the Pale ditch.
