Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education whether all art examiners involved in the correction and marking of the 1995 leaving certificate art examinations papers were fully qualified in that particular subject and that prior to undertaking these duties the examiners in question were asked to confirm their qualifications by her Department; whether this is normal procedure every year; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1442] Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): All art examiners involved in the correction and marking of all aspects of the 1995 leaving certificate art papers were fully qualified art teachers with teaching and marking experience. Applicants for examining posts must state clearly on the application form their qualifications in art and relevant experience. All applicants, including those who already have experience as examiners, must complete an application form each year.
