Dáil Éireann - Volume 463 - 26 March, 1996

Written Answers. - Business Studies Degree.

243. Miss Quill asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that there are currently 90 students competing for 35 places on the Bachelor of Business Studies course for the academic year commencing in 1996; the action, if any, she proposes to authorise to ensure that all of these applicants will be successful in obtaining a place; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6188/96]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): There are a number of third level institutions offering primary degrees in business studies. It is not clear which institution the Deputy has in mind but all applicants must first achieve the necessary standard in the examination on which their application is based. The position in relation to the number of academically suitable applicants will be clearer when the relevant examinations are held later this year.
