Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment if a report was compiled on the pollution level in Clew Bay, County Mayo; whether a site was suggested in that report for a sewerage treatment plant for Westport, County Mayo; and whether the suggested site is the same site where there is a compulsory purchase order at present. Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) prepared by Mayo [687] County Council for the proposed sewerage scheme for Westport contained detailed information, inter alia, on water quality in relation to Westport Bay. The EIS considered five potential sites for the location of the treatment works and its recommended site is currently the subject of a compulsory purchase order.
