Written Answers. - North Leitrim Water Scheme.

181. Mr. Bree asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the proposed north Leitrim regional water supply scheme; and if his attention has been drawn to the necessity of such a scheme in order to ensure an adequate supply of water for the Manorhamilton, Dromahair, Drumkeerin and north Leitrim area in general. [6080/96]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): An application for the Lough Gill regional water supply scheme, which includes the Manorhamilton, Dromahair, Drumkeerin water supply scheme has been submitted to the European Commission for Cohesion [676] Fund assistance. Pending the Commission's decision, and having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance this scheme.
