Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): I propose to take Questions Nos. 174, 175 and 185 together.

I am not in a position at present to make a remedial teacher post available to the school referred to by the Deputy. Two members of my Department's primary inspectorate have recently visited the school; the first to carry out an assessment on the suitability for radio aids of two hearing impaired pupils, the second to identify any further special needs within the school. A radio aid has been sanctioned for the two children concerned. A report is expected shortly from the inspector regarding any further special needs in the school.

My Department maintains a record of all schools which apply for a remedial teacher service. When I am in a position to extend the remediation service, the needs of all applicant schools, including the school mentioned by the Deputy, will be considered. All successful applicants will be notified at that stage.
