109. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health when an additional physician will be appointed to south Tipperary; [1267] and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5042/96]

Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the appointment of a physician in the medicine of old age for South Tipperary.

It is expected that the post will shortly be submitted by the South-Eastern Health Board to Comhairle na nOspidéal for approval. When approved, the board will be in a position to advise the local appointments commission to proceed with the advertising of the post.
