Written Answers. - Dublin Transportation Initiative.

88. Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, that has been made on the recommendations of the Dublin Transportation Initiative reports; the timetable, if any, that has been set to achieve the recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3429/96]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): Responsibility for implementing the various elements of the integrated transportation strategy recommended in the final report of the Dublin Transportation Initiative rests with a number of different agencies. Last November, I established the Dublin transportation office, on a statutory basis, to co-ordinate and monitor the work of the individual agencies in implementing the strategy. The steering committee of the office will prepare status reports, from time to time, identifying progress made by the implementation agencies in relation to each element of the strategy. I will arrange [1679] to have copies of all such status reports placed in the Oireachtas Library. The first such report should be available shortly after Easter.
