Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health the waiting period for mammograph services in each of the health board areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Within each health board area immediate appointments are available for urgent referrals. The waiting times for routine referrals in each of the units are as set out in the following schedule. 789 The Deputy will also wish to know that I recently announced the introduction of a national breast screening programme on a phased basis. Phase 1 will [789] commence as soon as possible and will cover the Eastern, North Eastern and Midland Health Board areas. It will target 120,000 women which represents 50 per cent of the target population for the programme.
