Dáil Éireann - Volume 458 - 28 November, 1995

Written Answers. - School Extension.

132. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she will give a progress report on the provision of an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary; when funding will be made available for the project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [17719/95]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): My Department is awaiting a response from the school authorities in relation to the outline sketch scheme for the project.

At this early stage of architectural planning the question of funding does not arise. However, I assure the Deputy that when the project has reached an advanced stage of planning the question of allocating funds will be considered.

133. Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the amount of capital moneys expended on national schools, by school under its county heading, for 1994 and to date in 1995. [17737/95]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): In 1994, the amount of capital moneys spent on primary schools was £21 million. In 1995, the amount spent to 23 November was £21.8 million. The school and county details sought by the Deputy are not readily available in my Department. The number of schools which received grant-aid in the [1695] 1994-1995 period would be in the region of 2,000.

If the Deputy requires information on a particular school, he might give the details to my office and I will arrange to have the matter examined.
