Mr. Ellis asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the facilities provided by his Department for the Taoiseach during his visit to New York on 9 and 10 November 1995; and if he [1651] will make a statement on the matter. [17851/95] Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Spring) Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Spring) Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Spring): As the Deputy will be aware the Taoiseach's visit to New York on 9 and 10 November last was largely in a personal and private capacity. All of the advance arrangements for the visit, I understand, were made for the Taoiseach through the Fine Gael office and did not involve my Department. The Consulate General in New York extended the usual courtesies including VIP facilities to the Taoiseach. The Consulate accompanied the Taoiseach at a number of official engagements, with Mayor Giuliani, and to the Emerald Isle Immigration Centre. No charges arose for this Department.
