24. Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the Government policy in relation to proposals for a new airport at Baldonnel, County Dublin. [17437/95]

Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Lowry): The implications of the proposal for use of Baldonnel aerodrome as a second commercial airport for Dublin are at present being examined in my Department. This work is at an advanced stage and I expect to receive recommendations from my officials within a matter of weeks.

I therefore expect to be in a position to convey my own views on the proposal to the promoters within a short time.
