Dáil Éireann - Volume 458 - 22 November, 1995

Written Answers. - Shannon Airport Infrastructure.

23. Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications when he will approve the major infrastructural works at Shannon Airport. [17274/95]

Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications (Mr. Lowry): I have already publicly welcomed Aer Rianta's preparation of a plan for the development of the airport's facilities, since I had made clear from the time of my appointment as Minister my wish to see these facilities developed. The programme is being assessed in my Department and the Department of Finance with a view to ensuring that the planned benefits are obtained in the most cost effective manner.

I have asked my officials to give this matter priority and I hope to make an [1288] announcement on the development programme for Shannon in the very near future.
