Dáil Éireann - Volume 458 - 21 November, 1995

Written Answers. - FÁS Courses.

171. Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he is in a position to require people on long-term unemployment who are suspected of dealing in drugs to attend FÁS courses following concern by many communities that drug dealers drawing assistance have large amounts of free time. [17267/95]

Minister for Enterprise and Employment (Mr. R. Bruton): The formulation of proposals to deal with suspected drug dealers does not fall within the remit of my Department. Currently, participation on FÁS training and employment programmes is voluntary and I have no plans for change in that regard.
