58. Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the meetings, if any, he has had with casino operators regarding proposals to open a casino in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [88276/95]

Minister for Tourism and Trade (Mr. E. Kenny): The only such meetings which I have been with the promoters of the Rehab/Crockford casino proposal and the ITT Sheraton proposal.

No policy decision has been made by Government in relation to the establishment of casinos in Ireland. A positive decision in this respect would require legislative change.
