Dáil Éireann - Volume 452 - 10 May, 1995 Written Answers. - Operational Programme for Tourism. Mr. Andrews Mr. Andrews 1344 56. Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the plans, if any he has to put in place an appeals procedure for projects which are refused funding by the management boards which evaluate tourism proposals under [1344] the Operational Programme for Tourism. [8433/95] Minister for Tourism and Trade (Mr. E. Kenny) Enda Kenny Minister for Tourism and Trade (Mr. E. Kenny): I have already been in touch with the chairmen of the three management boards which determine applications for grant assistance under the EU Operational Programme for Tourism, 1994-1999 with a view to putting in place a common review mechanism for projects which are rejected. The review mechanism will be internal to the management boards and will be on the basis of new information or substantial changes in a project which would justify it being reconsidered. I have also asked the boards to give the reasons in cases where projects are not being supported. The new mechanism now being put in place should ensure that legitimate appeals can be made while preserving the impartial and independent structure of the management boards.
