41. Mr. Barry asked the Minister for the Environment when capital funding will be available for libraries in Cork City. [8449/95]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. Howlin): There are three library proposals for Cork city currently under consideration by my Department.

A proposal to lease a unit of Mahon Shopping Centre for use as a branch library was approved in principle in February 1994. Detailed layout and cost plans requested at that time are awaited in my Department.

A proposal to relocate the branch library at Hollyhill to a leased unit of Hollyhill Shopping Centre was approved in principle in February 1994. [1335] Detailed layout and cost plans were received in my Department last December and are currently under consideration in conjunction with An Chomhairle Leabharlanna. Approval in principle for a new branch library at Bishopstown was granted in October 1992. Detailed layout and cost plans which were requested at that time have not yet been received in my Department.
