[460] 70. Miss Quill asked the Minister for Health the number of people waiting for heart transplants; the number of people waiting for open heart surgery; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1791/95]

Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan, Limerick East): The number of people waiting for open heart surgery (i.e. including adults and children) is 1,871. The number of people waiting for heart transplants is 23. However this figure is influenced by the availability of donors.
