[1583] 206. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education her views on the establishment of the Tipperary Rural and Business Institute; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2726/94]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): The establishment of a Tipperary rural and business institute is an issue which is appropriate for consideration in the context of the future development of the higher education sector in Ireland. I have asked a steering committee, established under the aegis of the Higher Education Authority, to advise me on the needs of the sector to the year 2015. The committee is due to submit an interim report to me later this month. When I receive the report I will be giving it my urgent attention.
