127. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2704/94]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Stagg): This application was received on 17 October 1994. An inspection, with a view to payment of the grant, will be carried out when the applicant notifies my Department that he is in occupation of the apartment as his normal place of residence.

[1535] 128. Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for the Environment the proportion of work which it is essential to have carried out by a contractor to enable people building their own houses to qualify for the new house grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2705/94]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment (Mr. Stagg): To qualify for a new house grant, a contractor (s) registered for VAT, holding either a current From C2 or tax clearance certificate, must be engaged in the construction of the house. The VAT registered work, including materials purchased, must have a value of not less than £15,000.
