124. Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself that the law requiring cyclists to have lamps on their bikes after daylight hours is adequate; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2537/94]

Minister for the Environment (Mr. M. Smith): I am satisfied as to the adequacy of the legal requirements in relation to the lighting of pedal cycles used in a public place during lighting-up hours. Of course enforcement is a matter for the Garda.
