253. Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Education if she has completed her review of the pilot scheme on school security in the Finglas area of Dublin; and if she will consider extending the scheme to other areas. [1569/94]

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): A preliminary review of the security scheme has been carried out. However, to enable a more comprehensive evaluation of the project to be completed I propose to continue with the scheme in the existing schools until the end of the current school year. I do not propose to extend the scheme to other areas in the meantime.
