148. Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will approve an application for additional ewe premium quota from the national reserve for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford in view of the fact that his sole income is derived from sheep farming.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry (Mr. J. Walsh): The person named applied for reserve quota under a category which provides for quota to be allocated to producers who submitted an application for the first time in 1992 or subsequent years and who meet certain conditions.

However he applied for ewe premium for the first time in 1990 and therefore does not qualify for reserve quota under this category.
