131. Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Marine if, in the context of the community support framework, the EU has decided that proposals for EU aid for port investment at Dún Laoghaire and the Shannon Estuary must be further evaluated before a decision is taken; and if so, when, by whom and over what duration this evaluation will take place.

Minister for the Marine (Mr. Andrews): The new proposals for EU aid for port development works at Dún Laoghaire and the Shannon Estuary will in accordance with normal practice be evaluated by the Operational Programme for Transport's Monitoring Committee. The evaluation process will [1314] commence shortly and will be concluded as speedily as possible.
