[1803] 152. Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education the estimated number of students from this country pursuing courses in third level institutions in Britain and Northern Ireland.

Minister for Education (Ms Bhreathnach): Information provided by the Departments for Education in Britain and Northern Ireland indicates that in the academic year 1992-93, there were 6,778 students from the Republic of Ireland in full-time attendance at courses of higher education in the United Kingdom. Of these, 2,279 students were in full-time higher education in Northern Ireland.
